Purine-pyrimidine symmetry, determinative degree and DNA
نویسندگان
چکیده
Various symmetries connected with purine-pyrimidine content of DNA sequences are studied in terms of the intruduced determinative degree, a new characteristics of nucleotide which is connected with codon usage. A numerological explanation of CG pressure is proposed. A classification of DNA sequences is given. Calculations with real sequences show that purine-pyrimidine symmetry increases with growing of organization. A new small parameter which characterizes the purine-pyrimidine symmetry breaking is proposed for the DNA theory. E-mail: [email protected] Internet: http://gluon.physik.uni-kl.de/~duplij

Symmetry Analysis Of Genetic Code And Determinative Degree (in Russian)
A three-dimensional model of the genetic vocabulary is proposed in terms of determinative degree, an introduced characteristic of nucleotide, which reflects absolute difference between purin and pyrimidin bases in one DNA strand. In the fremework of this model manifest symmetry and group properties are described. It is proposed to use the determinative degree of codons to analyze genetic texts,...
متن کاملEvidence for sequence-specific conformational changes in DNA from the melting temperatures of DNA phosphorothioate derivatives.
Analogs of alternating purine-pyrimidine DNA polymers such as poly(dA-dT)-poly(dA-dT) can be made with phosphorothioate groups in the DNA backbone. A phosphorothioate diester at the 5'-purine-pyrimidine-3' step causes a significant lowering of the polymer's melting temperature compared to a phosphorothioate diester at the 5'-pyrimidine-purine-3' step. This may occur because sulfur substitution ...
متن کاملA novel palindromic triple-stranded structure formed by homopyrimidine dodecamer d-CTTCTCCTCTTC and homopurine hexamer d-GAAGAG.
We have carried out NMR and molecular mechanics studies on a complex formed when a palindromic homopyrimidine dodecamer (d-CTTCTCCTCTTC) and a homopurine hexamer (d-GAAGAG) are mixed in 1:1 molar ratio in aqueous solutions. Such studies unequivocally establish that two strands of each oligomer combine to form a triple-stranded DNA structure with a palindromic symmetry and with six T.A:T and six...
متن کاملPersistency of single-stranded DNA: The interplay between base sequences and base stacking
The chain persistency of single-stranded (ss) DNA at a high-salt limit mainly arises from the so-called base-stacking interaction between consecutive bases along the strand. Stacking is appreciable for purine–purine (e.g., A–A) and purine–pyrimidine stacks (e.g., A–T), but it is weak for pyrimidine stacks (i.e., T–T, T–C, and C–C). We study how base stacking can stiffen the strand by classifyin...
متن کاملDifferential control of cell cycle, proliferation, and survival of primary T lymphocytes by purine and pyrimidine nucleotides.
Purine and pyrimidine nucleotides play critical roles in DNA and RNA synthesis as well as in membrane lipid biosynthesis and protein glycosylation. They are necessary for the development and survival of mature T lymphocytes. Activation of T lymphocytes is associated with an increase of purine and pyrimidine pools. However, the question of how purine vs pyrimidine nucleotides regulate proliferat...
